South African Mercedes Benz Motor Vehicle fails Roadworthy Test
Mercedes Benz refuse to repair it (updated 16 April 2011)
The purpose of this website is publicise the shameful manner in which the following companies have treated us:
- Mercedes Benz East Rand Service Centre, based at Cargo Motors, Bedfordview
- Mercedes Benz South Africa, Based at Pretoria
- Daimler AG, Stuttgart, Germany
After our beautiful C-Class Mercedes was “serviced” in October, November and December 2010 by Cargo Motors Bedfordview, we started experiencing a problem with the brake pedal sinking to the floor.
Mercedes Benz South Africa spent weeks trying to fix the problem by replacing various parts as Cargo Motors Bedfordview were unable do so. When the problem persisted, Mercedes Benz South Africa claimed that Daimler AG said there was nothing wrong with the car, unfortunately for them, they put this in writing – twice!.
I drove the car directly from the dealer to a private government approved Motor Vehicle Roadworthy Test Centre near my home. The car as expected FAILED the roadworthy test.
Mercedes Benz South Africa then refused to make the vehicle roadworthy by fixing the brakes and now we cannot drive or sell the vehicle. The car has been parked in our garage at home for the past three weeks. It has been heartbreaking and frustrating to experience such intimidation by a company like Mercedes Benz South Africa.
Brakes are a serious safety issue and I believe that this problem justifies a full public investigation by Daimler AG.
Would you believe that the car is still under warranty and MobiloDrive 120+ Maintenance Plan.
